shane39 Posted October 25, 2011 Posted October 25, 2011 Good evening all! I'm Sheffield born n bred, and will be down from Scotland 1st week in November to visit family etc: My girlfriend who is Scottish is a lecturer at Edinburgh Uni,and she will be down in Sheffield the following week,to give a talk at Sheffield Uni.It will be her first visit and i would like (as a surprise) to leave some Sheffield brands at the hotel she will be staying at. One item on my list is obviously Hendersons Relish. I would also like to purchase some Sheffield cutlery(is that still possible?) and where would i find it? Any other suggestions would be warmly recieved! Thanks.. Shane.

jake Posted October 25, 2011 Posted October 25, 2011 The big breweries maybe mostly gone - but there's a lot of beer produced in sheffield in smaller breweries - some bottles of Kelham Island beer maybe a good call
mammybear Posted October 25, 2011 Posted October 25, 2011 as far as i know bassets is still going i think its down hillsboro somewhere.
deboanne Posted October 25, 2011 Posted October 25, 2011 Some kelham island beer and a bottle of hendo's and a fancie cake.
yorkiepudd Posted October 25, 2011 Posted October 25, 2011 as far as i know bassets is still going i think its down hillsboro somewhere. Behind the leisure center but it's badged as Cadbury now. They also make Maynard s wine gums there.
yorkiepudd Posted October 25, 2011 Posted October 25, 2011 Oh and Thornton s chocolates originate from Sheffield although they are no longer manufactured in Sheffield. The 1st five stores were here as was the original factory.
Rich Posted October 25, 2011 Posted October 25, 2011 Also, don't forget good old Henderson's Relish, the Factory is on Leavygreave Road (Opposite the University Tram stop), but it's sold in most Supermarkets.
Sarkysod Posted October 25, 2011 Posted October 25, 2011 Surely Maxons sweets must count as one of Sheffield's Iconic brands? I am sure most people have seen them, but not many actually know they are a good old Sheffield brand.
