syfire Posted October 24, 2011 Posted October 24, 2011 For information, our proposals for how to deal with losing £10m from our £60m budget by 2015 are now on our website (please Google us - we haven't posted on here enough to be able to add a link). Business cases for the proposals are there for anyone who wants to read them. We don't want to make these changes but we are cutting management and admin costs by 25% by 2014 and this saves up to £3m per year - so we probably have another £7m in savings to find. We've done a lot of research and are putting forward the proposals we believe will have the least impact on the public. Our Authority will make in-principle decisions next Monday and then there will be a full public consultation if they choose to make any changes to fire cover.
NotInUse Posted October 24, 2011 Posted October 24, 2011 1/6 is a huge cut. Would you agree that this government's policies are putting lives at risk?
Minimo Posted October 24, 2011 Posted October 24, 2011 The website shows some impressive figures regarding reduction in incidents. That, together with the brilliant service being offered to Sheffielders regarding free smoke alarms, may mean that the cuts will not have such a bad impact as they might have done. It should be compulsory for every home to have a working smoke detector. Also more education for youngsters on the dangers of fire could help to cut down on arson and malicious calls. As a deaf person I am so grateful to SY Fire for providing me with smoke detectors, including an under-the-pillow vibrating alarm. I feel so very much safer now.
le-joker Posted November 4, 2011 Posted November 4, 2011 There are other places to make cuts such as banquets at town hall. But never, ever at the fire service.
jaxter30 Posted November 4, 2011 Posted November 4, 2011 all these cuts to our services! when are the mp's going to take a cut. multiple homes, cars, mistresses and we all pay for it, how spiffing dear..another glass of champers while we rob from the poor!
