Village Owl Posted October 23, 2011 Posted October 23, 2011 For insurance, and common sense reasons, it is a requirement that people put their names down in advance if they intend to come on a Shamblers Walk. Walk: Five Weirs/Canal (followed by optional visit to Fright Night party in Sheffield City Centre) Date: Sunday 30th October Start time: Meet at 11.15am for 11.30am start Meeting point: Outside the Harlequin Pub, just off the Wicker Approx distance: 7 miles Approx duration: 3 and a half hours Route: Five Weirs to Broughton Lane, Canal for return leg Terrain: Flat, but paths are often muddy Parking: Free on street parking on single yellow lines in Nursery Street area Refreshments: Wentworth House Hotel Toilets: As above Public transport: Any bus which goes down the Wicker! Walk Leaders: Bruno, Village Owl Additional information: Fright Night is Britain's biggest Halloween party. Over 38,000 people, many in fancy dress, flock into Sheffield City Centre every year for an evening of ghoulish activity, with street theatre and funfair rides providing family entertainment. Ghost tours and a fancy-dress catwalk are among the many other attractions keeping Fright Night participants occupied. Much of Sheffield City Centre is closed to traffic for the evening, so instead of cars watch out for werewolves, vampires and zombies. IMPORTANT: Anyone joining the walk should be of a level of fitness relative to the walk being undertaken, be appropriately dressed, have suitable footwear, and have with them enough food and drink for the duration of the walk.
Bruno Posted October 28, 2011 Posted October 28, 2011 This should end up a good day out, hope the weather stays fine.
Village Owl Posted October 30, 2011 Author Posted October 30, 2011 Quite a crowd got their names down for this already, maybe its something to do with the chance to dress up. Should be a great day.
Village Owl Posted October 30, 2011 Author Posted October 30, 2011 A wonderful day today, and a great turnout. A lovely walk along the canal, lunch at the pub, taking in the sights and sounds of Fright Night, followed by a meal in the city centre. Thanks everyone for their fab comapny.
