Pink2Bubble Posted October 23, 2011 Posted October 23, 2011 Sheffield Forum got back to winning ways against Graduate on Herdings Park. New signings Shaun Baugh and Ashley Matthews made their debuts whilst Scott Fraser returned to the side following his charity work the game before. Andy Coates was also given his first start of the season. Ashley Proctor, Phil Gill and Matthew Corker dropped to the bench with Corker unlikely to feature until his rib injury clears up. Forum started brightly with the new line up and took the lead early on after some decent pressure. Some good work from Sheedy freed up Middlebrook who put the ball in the net for 1-0. Middlebrook had 2 other decent efforts, 1 either side of the goal, both went just inches wide of the post. The second goal came from a long drop kick from the goalkeeper, ball bouncing over the defender for Wales to run on to before putting past the keeper for Forums 2nd and his first of the season. Forum kept the pressure on and looked to add more, coping very well with any Graduate attack. A third was added, this time debutant Ashley Matthews smashed in from close range following a corner. The ball was whipped in, attacked and the ball fell loose, Matthews reacted first for 3-0 Forum. Middlebrook had to be replaced after a clash of heads left him with a head injury, his eye swollen to the side of a golf ball. Wales then added a fourth in the first half, Jenkins took the free kick from just inside the Forum half, Wales got the perfect head to it, directing it across goal into the far corner. HT: Sheffield Forum 4-0 Graduate Second half, Graduate took the game to Sheffield Forum but didnt get any clear efforts on goal and Forum still looked the bigger threat. A fifth was added when Wales was hauled down just inside the corner of the penalty area, Daniel Sheedy took the kick twice due to encroachment but did score both times. Sheffield Forum then gave away a disputable penalty that Graduate put away for 5-1. Graduate did add a second, shot was fumbled by the keeper and they picked up the rebound. Match finished Sheffield Forum 5-2 Graduate with a rematch with High Green Rovers to follow next week in the League Cup
