Bladesman Posted October 23, 2011 Posted October 23, 2011 Italian rider Marco Simoncelli has died after a horrific crash at the Malaysian MotoGP in Sepang. The race was stopped on lap two when Simoncelli's bike veered across the track at turn 11 into the path of Colin Edwards and Valentino Rossi. The 24-year-old had his helmet knocked off and was hit by both other riders. American rider Edwards also fell and dislocated his shoulder - while Simoncelli's fellow Italian Rossi was able to return to the pits. Simoncelli lay motionless on the track after the impact, while the race was immediately red-flagged. At first officials were looking to restart the race before the extent of Simoncelli's injuries became clear. I was looking forward to watching re run of this race at lunch time and now I know why its not being shown. This is terrible news yet another sports star passes away and I really am struggling to believe it. R.I.P Marco AKA Sideshow Bob
littlewizzle Posted October 23, 2011 Posted October 23, 2011 Marco Simoncelli has passed away in Malaysia after crashing during the second lap of the MotoGP race at the Sepang circuit earlier today.RIP marco you will be sadly missed ;(
medusa Posted October 23, 2011 Posted October 23, 2011 We saw the crash live and were waiting for the announcement of his death- it is hard to believe that a rider could go through the trauma of having his helmet ripped off his head in a crash and survive it. RIP Marco, a great talent lost.
bossdogg Posted October 23, 2011 Author Posted October 23, 2011 just wached it on youtube horrific his helmet was off before he hit the track
MuteWitness Posted October 23, 2011 Posted October 23, 2011 Got up nice and early to watch this, thought he would be on the podium, was panicking that Bautista would crash into him.
hugh jarse Posted October 23, 2011 Posted October 23, 2011 really sad.....wrong tyre choice being the only front runner on a hard rear tyre meant it skipped out more.....just so unlucky it gripped again and pushed him sideways into the path of others...it could so easily have given way fully and had him simply slide off the track. A rising star gone forever...so so sad
