Occupy sheffield

Recommended Posts

It's not 'my mob'.

I've not looked into their goals, yet.

I didn't pick the venue.

Please provide evidence to the aim of 'smashing capitalism'.

And bailing out the banks again and again ain't capitalism.

It may not be your mob but you go out of your way to support them.

You may not have picked the venue but I have yet to see any post for you suggesting it was a crap idea.

You haven't looked into their goals? My gawd; your advertising and supporting something you have no idea about.

I really believe that. - NOT

About that evidense.

I noticed a thread started by some pot smoking lefty regarding occupy London. That thread had two links.

http://occupylondon.org.uk/

Their stated targets all seem to be designed to be anti big business (But nothing about Weatherspoons).

MUSIC for Dancing on the Grave of Capitalism – The Sequel

On Halloween, Mon 31 Oct 2011, some of the Spectres Haunting Europe will be Dancing the Skeleton Can-Can at the Bank of England and Canary Wharf, and YOU are Welcome and Encouraged to Join In Too:

• Dancing on the Grave of Capitalism – The Sequel

So, you started a topic but neglected to read the links because you have no idea of the goals and expect posters to believe that.

Pull the other one; it has bells on it.

KILL THEM!

it's the civilised thing to do!

anyway, some of us are still waiting to hear the results of the meeting.

can i assume that no-one turned up........ or the protest has been cancelled due to the weather....or a lack of tents....or no cheap pubs near proposed protest site.....or all this weeks benefit spent at last nights meeting.....or the realisation that the occupy london protest has not and cannot achieve its intended aims?

DISCUSS!

Who's Talking about communism?!? I dont think anyone suggest that be the route we head down.

The Greed of these men and women at the top is destroying the working class of this country and when people who cant afford to pay there mortgage and are promptly booted out of house and home can see on the news that bankers who Gamble away peoples savings and put the country in financial meltdown, not only do they not face the consequences for there irresponsible actions but they get bailed out and recieve nice fat bonus cheques.

My Idealistic view of England is that if you work hard you can climb the ladder Get the job and get yourself a nice car, a nice house and so on so forth but it has got to the point in this country where there isnt a ladder to climb. People are having to pay more to be educated with no guarantees of jobs at the end, we see the rich get richer and the poor tossed aside.

Im Graduating next year with a degree in Mechanical Engineering and my best job prospects are certainly not in this country because this country has lost interest in looking out for people like me who come from a working class background and want to have it maybe a little bit better than my parents. No, this country is far to busy pandering to the super rich because they might be of political use.

Occupies goals havent all been clarified but personally I'd like to see a country where we start to look out for each other again rather than try and get that Extra 0 on the end of a bank balance, There has got to be a point when enough is enough.

I'll be happy to chip in.

The OP, who has no clue this is a communist inspired jobby, has totally failed to tell us what happened.

Given his general crowing about the thing, I assume it was a wash out.

I must try to search out more info and post it but I'm a little busy at the moment as I have to cook breakfast.

Of course I'll leave the washing up to the sevent.

Commies. Ruddy silly bunch.

I Think Most people who are thinking about protesting are looking at more of a socialism route rather than a communist one, but feel free to carry on distorting words of people who just want everyone to have equal oppurtunities as disgraceful as that sounds

The silence from the OP is deafening.

He'd be crowing if the meeting actually went ahead. That means either no one rolled in or it was just a couple of lame idiots.

OP is probably gobsmacked that execs have receive 46% pay rises this year.

or that most of the greek bailout money is coming from china.

or he could have been an undercover cop trying to find out who all the troublemakers are in sheffield by inviting them to a meeting. :suspect::suspect::suspect:

how do everyone feel about the top 100 fst company directors being paid,( by themselves no doubt) a hefty 2.5 million on average??. and having at least a 50 percent pay rise this year alone, when all of the financial markets have seen one of the biggest crashes of all time. now that does sound like performance related pay !!

I'm happy. Capitalism favours those who get of their arses and do something.

Everyone has the chance to join the ranks of the rich if they're willing to do so.

I keep being told that's bull so I'll add a couple of examples.

Tommy Elvin of Wath started by collecting scrap in a hand card. He died rich.

Amstrad's boss man started out by flogging aerials at car boots.

It's there is you're willing to go for it. The lazy masses don't; they just moan and say how jolly naughty the bosses are for doing well.

Oh Come on Get real That sort of thing is near impossible to happen nowadays because Large Corporations stop it from happening Capitalism got its success from having competitive markets which just dont exist anymore, when CEO's can give themselves disgusting pay rises in the aftermath of the worlds biggest financial crisis in memory there is something wrong with the system they operate in.

When Up to 1 in 4 University Graduates (People who have gotten of their arses and got Educated) are unemployed, there is a problem with the system, when people like these CEO's cut jobs and salaries to the bare bones so that their Fat Pay cheques can recieve a boost there is a problem with the system. When Banks get bailed out by taxes paid for by the people who theyre now systematically destroying while the executives take their golden handshakes, put it in a bank account in switzerland because heaven forbid they put anything back into the system that treated them so well.

I am the first one to chastise the lazy, useless people in this country who refuse outright to work. But anyone who can't see that what these people are doing and the sytem, that not only is allowing them to do it but Rewarding them for it, is Morally disgusting, You're either blind or ignorant. Why wouldnt you want people to start from a level playing field? Are you really the people who think James Murdoch rose up the ranks in News International through merit? Or Paris Hilton became such a Big name through her business Expertise? Because these are the types of people Capitalism works for, you really support the system that has let these people live like they've done something with there lives yet people like teachers, Nurses, Police Officers, Builders, Social Workers so on so forth, have to struggle to pay a mortgage and feed there children? If you do then i truly, truly question your morale compass
