Tradescanthia   10 #37 Posted October 26, 2011 Cannot these 'rentamob' groups be photographed whilst in action and the pictures be scrutinised by DWP to see if all or any are drawing benefits ???? There's only a doler got the time to occupy and if he does then he is not actively seeking work, or available for work. See how many 'working class warriors' would be on the streets then. I have always been a socialist but the unwashed rentamob cretins just get the left discredited.
 Share this content via...

muckymurphy   10 #39 Posted October 26, 2011 John Lewis don't have shares. In fact they're a shining example of good capitalism as each employee is a 'partner' in the company and each one gets a share of the profits every year. That's why it's called the John Lewis Partnership and why they maintain high standards in the stuff they sell and in customer service.  I wish more companies were run like this as it's obviously a model that works on all levels.  EXCELLENT! good to see that there are intelligent people on this forum who are prepared to read what is said and then find out the truth. well done! i am now more enlightened. muckymurphy   10 #40 Posted October 27, 2011 Occupy Sheffield planning meeting Time 26 October · 19:00 - 22:00 Location upstairs of Wetherspoons opposite John Lewis The Benjamin Huntsman, Wetherspoons 12 Cambridge Street, Sheffield Created by: Andy Cropper More info This is a planning meeting for Occupy Sheffield where anyone interested in organising and supporting the event can come and meet, chat and work out the 'what', 'where' and 'how ' of an Occupation in Sheffield  things to think on before coming  What can you offer? Where do you think we should 'occupy'? What do we need to consider before and during our occupation? How else can you help? plus do take time to think of any other questions that you think may be applicable   link for google map directions- http://maps.google.co.uk/maps?oe=utf-8&rls=org.mozilla%3Aen-US%3Aofficial&client=firefox-a&um=1&ie=UTF-8&q=wetherspoons&fb=1&gl=uk&hq=wetherspoons&hnear=0x48790aa9fae8be15%3A0x3e2827f5af06b078%2CSheffield&ei=S2mgTqeOL5Ou8QOy0cjbBQ&sa=X&oi=local_group&ct=image&ved=0CAUQtgM&iwloc=cids%3A9766640228981524059  well, how did the meeting go?  when can we expect to see the first tents outside sheffield cathedral?  whoops! just realised you wont be awake at this time in the morning and of course, there's the hangover to deal with.  anyway, it will be on news at one but heres the effect your protest is having on the economy. firstly, the banks have written off 50% of the greek debt. secondly, the FTSE 100 is up by 2.2% already this morning and it's not even coffeetime.  GOOD MORNING CAMPERS! :hihi:
 Share this content via...
upinwath   10 #41 Posted October 27, 2011 well, how did the meeting go?  I'm guessing they had a vote on what ale to buy; another on who was paying, if they were having rounds or if it could be taken from Anarchist funds.  They would have gone on to get smashed and decided to hold off the vote until the next dole payment. go4it   10 #44 Posted October 27, 2011 The old system just isn't working and seems to have had its day. We need to find new ways of living, new ways of working things out between us: identifying what's important to us. The whole process needs a radical shake-up and unless we get together to discuss and learn together there's little chance of seeing a fairer and more caring society. We need to create spaces for informed argument about economics and social policy: we don't get it via the media or the Commons (which ought to be a centre for all argument but often seems more like a circus - and a distraction). Occupy Sheffield needs to be somewhere where passers-by can feel included as well as those able to spend more time. Please don't rubbish this proposal before it's even been discussed locally.  I can't workout whether the 'occupy' people are deluded, sad, lonely, clueless, daft or just all of them.  Let's meet to discuss Occupy Sheffield - where shall we meet, Wetherspoons! The major pub chain which relies on bank funding and is a prime example of capitalism at work. it's like the London people shopping at Tescos and using the Starbucks toilets.  These people clearly aren't bright enough to understand the world today. We need big firms but also do need the smaller firms as well. So why don't they spend their time occupying a locally owned coffee shop and improving local business? upinwath   10 #45 Posted October 27, 2011 The people of the UK don't even have the right to be paid their wages in cash.  Is that why morons want to occupy Sheffield?  Face it pal. The years of communist controlled unions with massive power are dead and gone. Scargill is just some washed out, wig wearing nobody and the unions are pathetic shadows of what they were when they destroyed the economy and lost their members jobs for them.  Now pop off and enjoy your pint in a major capitalist venture and bleat to people stupid or drunk enough to believe communism is a good idea. upinwath   10 #47 Posted October 27, 2011 I'm not preaching communism and I'd rather drink homebrew.  That's interesting stuff.  So what exactly are the goals of occupy Sheffield and why didn't you decide on a small, home brew place as a venue?  The aims are smash capitalism (Sounds a tad left wing) and the cheap beer beats objections to capitalism.  That about sums your mob up. I've not looked into their goals, yet. I didn't pick the venue. Please provide evidence to the aim of 'smashing capitalism'.  And bailing out the banks again and again ain't capitalism.
