Not read every post, but the main reason noone helped the child is that, in China, if you help a stranger who is obviously in need of medical assistance, you could be held responsible for their medical fees... China doesn't have a NHS system, and the fees are pretty high... There have been several court cases in recent years where 'good samaritans' have been burnt for cash to pay for the treatments for those who they have helped... Not an ideal situation, and perhaps they need to look at this in light of this childs injuries and international interest?

I also don't want to see the video, but did the person who hit the little girl run over her TWICE?!! :help:

Well, firstly with a front wheel, and after a pause, the rear.

No - it was two different vans.., First van gets her down, but the second is the one that seems to have really ended her life - Unsure if the second van they knew they'd run over a person? Maybe thought a bag of rubbish? Lot's of press bandied around re the van driver saying they knew they'd knocked her down, but unsure as to whether it was the first driver or the second who says this?

The first van ran over her twice.

A Chinese toddler was run over twice by two vehicles, a total of 18 people walked passed before anyone gave help to the child, There is video footage which has been described as very graphic, how could people just walk past and not offer assistance, what is this world coming to.?

If this has happened in the UK, would any of the 18 people face prosecution.?

I cried buckets when i saw the footage and cried even harder when i saw how cruel some people can be.

in the UK neglectful parents that leave their kid in the bath for 10 minutes while they talk to somebody on the phone and the kid drowns get prosecuted. They might not get jailed, because it's obvious to the judge that whatever punishment he or she metes out, it can't be any worse than what the parent is going through themselves, but they do get prosecuted. They have to be. Otherwise, people will think that it's ok to leave a little kid in the bath on their own for 10 minutes.

I was reading about a woman whose baby drowned in the bath. She had left him with his older brother, a toddler himself while she went into the bedroom for a few minutes. Don't remember if she was prosecuted, but she was not in prison, instead was selling her story to some magazines. And no it didn't mention that her 'fee' would be donated to charity.

Anyway RIP Yue Yue. Your country will change because of you, your little life would not have been lost in vain.

I remember reading about a court case where some woman did exactly what I described - left toddler in bath, phone rang, went downstairs, answered it, talked for 10 minutes (but initially claimed to police it was three) returned to find child drowned. Of course they're going to prosecute cases like that.
