Spanna2005 Â Â 10 #2 Posted October 20, 2011 Hi there, Â I teach jiu jitsu at Hillsborough Sports Arena on Monday nights if you are interested in coming and giving it a go. My club also has a session on Wednesdays at the Hillsborough Leisure Centre. Â Being a slow learner isn't a problem as we don't try to rush everyone through the techniques. yodan4 Â Â 10 #4 Posted October 21, 2011 Hi, we currently have a few ladies in our classes where we teach Wado Ryu Karate which is a good all round Self Defence. Our Martial Arts Centre is in Chapeltown, not too far away. Â Visit http://www.chapeltownkarateclub.co.uk
 Share this content via...
Spanna2005 Â Â 10 #5 Posted October 21, 2011 Yes, it is very good for self defence. We teach defences from attacks such as wrist grabs, body grabs, strangles as well as armed attacks such as bottles. You don't have to be big and strong to be able to do jitsu which is why it is also good for children as well as adults. Â Check out http://www.jitsufoundation.org/ for more information on the style of jiu jitsu that is taught at my club
 Share this content via...
Spanna2005 Â Â 10 #6 Posted October 21, 2011 I should also point out that it is a mixed club so I hope this won't put you off. It is better to train with both men and women as both can be aggressive! We also teach defences from hair grabs, which a woman is more likely to do as an attack.
 Share this content via...
Amaranthus   10 #7 Posted October 21, 2011 There's the 393 club in hillsborough that does kickboxing for women.  Personally I prefer Wicker Camp, which does muay thai, but it's a little little further away from you. If you're interested, get in touch with them and have a word with Trix, she'll help you out in any way she can, she's great.
