rod10 Posted October 20, 2011 Posted October 20, 2011 does anyone know a lucky chimney sweep for a wedding
bazippy Posted October 20, 2011 Posted October 20, 2011 Dont know a chimney sweep, but when i got married i looked into yorkshire traditions.....apparntly its old custom to throw a plate out of the window, if the plate doesnt break youll have a bad marriage if it does youll have good look in your marriage. Not sure if this is true but it seemed to be a forgotten tradition from times gone by!
OOmpa Posted October 20, 2011 Posted October 20, 2011 Throwing a plate out of a window isn't nearly as exciting as having a chimney sweep at your wedding thought is it:hihi:
alex3659 Posted October 20, 2011 Posted October 20, 2011 I threw a chimney sweep out of the window, I caught him in bed with my bride to be. I'm now in jail eating off a tin plate.
Bulgarian Posted October 20, 2011 Posted October 20, 2011 Shouldn't the groom be "sweeping the brides' chimney" ?
speedy69 Posted October 20, 2011 Posted October 20, 2011 Shouldn't the groom be "sweeping the brides' chimney" ? Is it my dirty mind or is that some sort of metaphor
robthesweep Posted October 20, 2011 Posted October 20, 2011 I've heard it's only lucky if you use a genuine chimney sweep.
Spikie Posted October 21, 2011 Posted October 21, 2011 I've heard that its traditional to kill a Southerer at a wedding in Sheffield. We killed a bloke from Essex and our marriage has been great.
robthesweep Posted October 21, 2011 Posted October 21, 2011 I've heard that its traditional to kill a Southerer at a wedding in Sheffield. We killed a bloke from Essex and our marriage has been great. Is killing a southern chimney sweep double good luck?
Kadogo Posted October 21, 2011 Posted October 21, 2011 Shouldn't the groom be "sweeping the brides' chimney" ? Does that mean that he will be up her flue ?
