  1. 1. Should Liam Fox be investigated by detectives?

    • Yes. Fox knowingly breeched national security and must explain exactly what went on.

I dont think any less of Mr Fox, or this coalition government over this. This so called "scandal" is one of those Westminster bubble brewhaha's that no one else cares about because it doesn't really amount to much at all when you look at it.

Or to be more accurate, you don't mind because this criminal breech of National security was in pursuit of a very right wing agenda.

On that basis you have no problem with the fact that the CEO of all our armed forces and intelligemce agencies personally breeched national security and played a major part in facilitating the infiltration of the MoD by commercial concerns with links to foreign security services.

If these people who paid Werrity had had links to Iran or Russia instead of Israel, Fox would probably be awaiting trial for treason now, and rightly so!

Or maybe after a while you just think, "There goes another one" - it doesn't reduce the seriousness of the offence - it's just like hitting your thumb with a hammer - after the first half dozen times you don't feel it as much

Interestingly Fox does seem to be sorry. Sorry that he got caught.

So many questions still to be answered about all this.

Mr Werrity wasn't authorised to be where he was and do what he was doing, but he's a close freind of Liam Fox so therefore I'm prepared to beleive that he alright as it were.

This whole thing pales into insignificence compared to http://images.newstatesman.com/articles/2011//20110223_gaddafi-blair_w.jpg and even http://i.dailymail.co.uk/i/pix/2009/11/06/article-1225637-001BC41100000258-893_468x529.jpg

I don't think there is anything which could be used as a legal basis for a defence in that post. :hihi:

He seems more outraged that the press dare to question the 'divine right of kings' (or in this case tory ministers) to be above accountability.

What I don't understand, is how come there is no criminal investigation underway???

Money was paid to circumvent the democratic process and by-pass all security procedures by placing an agent - on behalf of murky right wing interests with links to arms dealing and foreign security forces - at the heart of the MoD's foreign negociations and policy making.

Liam Fox was not only aware of all this, but he actually made it possible through his complicity. These are just the facts we know. It is reasonable to assume that there is a lot more to it but - in keeping with the government's bizarre attempts to pass this off as a minor matter - Fox has so far avoided having to answer to criminal investigators in a recorded interview.

Actually, they're allegations being investigated, aren't they?

From the Daily Telegraph article you yourself linked:

"Dr Fox quit last week after it emerged that he had allowed Mr Werritty to attend official government meetings and have access to his diary."

And by doing so he knowingly breeched national security. Not allegations, established facts.

"Mr Werritty, who has no government role, received financial support from a group of senior Conservative donors, including some who have investments in the defence industry."

So, not only did Werrity attend numerous meetings with the representatives of foreign states concerning arms supply and 'security' matters, for which he had no security clearance, but he was funded on these expeditions by right wingers with links to the arms industry.

Established facts. Not allegations.

But you are claiming everything you put in post #90 is already known fact. It isn't, much of it is under investigtaion by a Parliamentary Standards Committee.

What points in particular do you believe are not widely accepted as facts?

The bizarre Mr Werrity has finally broken cover in order to give his side of the story....yet has managed to avoid answering any substantive question....such as "Why were you hanging around the defence secretary all the time, following him on foreign trips and touting for business whilst having no recognised role within the defence department. And while you are here what was that dodgy charity all about then? Do you you have a real job, one that hasn't been procured for you by your best friend Dr Fox? If so, what is it?"

More trouble for Liam due to his fondness for his good friend Adam Werrity. This time Fox has been told to pay back £3000 expenses he claimed for a second home where he allowed his little friend to live rent free.
