same thing happened to me a few years back, i found a purse, no money but a few credit cards and a bank card also a driving licence, not only that but a little photo with her credit card pin wrote on the back! i was on my way up to my mums at the time in high green when i found it on the bus, i found this lady in thompson local and i phoned her to say that i found her purse, i told her if she gave me her address i would drop it off, it was handy because she lived in chapletown same as me, so i dropped it in to her on my way home.

she opened the door and took the purse, looked inside and said "there was over 100 pounds in this purse" and gave me a funny look and closed the door!

now i didnt want a reward or anything but a thanks would have been nice!

She was making you aware that she knew the cash had been pinched so decided not to thank you for that ;)

I found a set of range rover keys in the street and went and handed them into the police station. Apparently a woman had been in an hour earlier frantic because she had borrowed her boyfriends brand new land rover and lost the keys nearby.

The desk person took my details and said he would pass them on for the lady to thank me as I'd saved them a lot of money.

Never heard from her but the police confirmed she had collected them.

I think you owe them an apology - do you think they are daft enough to take the cash and then take the evidence back, get real:roll:

When we were in Mallorca a few years ago, we found a wallet near a pay phone. My partner picked it up and tried to find some contact info. After a few hours (and about €40 in mobile phone calls) we found the owner - who happened to be in the same hotel as us. The owner wasnt grateful and slammed the door in our faces. :( Some people just lack manners.

As we walked away, we hoped that as we knocked on his door, the owner had just gotten off the phone with the bank to cancel everything and now those calls were useless. Felt that was just deserved.
