Mandem   13 #16 Posted October 17, 2011 I saw ther article in the Star about this, and couldn't believe it is going to cost £1 million to repair, where do they get these figures from. Also they have got to have a Health and Safety enquiry. They rebuild Japan after the earthquake quicker that they will that wall. Ned Ludd   10 #17 Posted October 24, 2011 We are being told that it the road will be repaired in the new year - "at the earliest" Why? If this had happened in Victorian 1890, it would probably have already been repaired by now........ or do we have to wait for the HSE to investigate? ..... or do we have to wait for lawyers from the City Council and Vinci Construction to argue about who's responsible for this shambles
 Share this content via...
metalman   21 #18 Posted October 24, 2011 If you remember how long it took for the road between Middlewood and Oughtibridge to be repaired after the landslip caused by the 2007 floods, I'd say that they seem to be doing this one rather quickly in comparison, if anything. Yog Sothoth   10 #19 Posted October 24, 2011 Given that it was potentially a fatal incident, had anyone been in the way of the wall when it collapsed, it's right and proper there's a full investigation. Rebuilding it has to come second to that.
 Share this content via...
Tony   10 #20 Posted October 24, 2011 Not really. Nobody's hurt so nobody will be investigating beyond engineers and insurers in order to establish who's paying and the remedial action. or do we have to wait for lawyers from the City Council and Vinci Construction to argue about who's responsible for this shambles there you go. wednesday1 Â Â 10 #21 Posted October 24, 2011 The only surprise is that it's taken this long to collapse, it's had a massive crack in the corner for as long as I can remember!
 Share this content via...
Ned Ludd   10 #22 Posted October 24, 2011 Not really. Nobody's hurt so nobody will be investigating beyond engineers and insurers in order to establish who's paying and the remedial action. there you go. According to information supplied to date, the engineers should have finished by about Friday (28th) - in which case I don't understand why the repairs won't be completed until the new year 'at the earliest'
 Share this content via...
bus man   10 #23 Posted October 24, 2011 The inforamtion given in the press is that the H&SE are involved due to the potentional risk if this had caused injury , it is lucky that there was no one in the school yard or on the road the tiem. It would be very intresting to hear from an independant body what if any work was been carried out in the area of this collapse at the time or prior to the incident.
