Skink 10 #1 Posted October 6, 2011 We are taking the kids to Quarry Bank Mill and thought it would be nice to go see some planes Parking at the public viewpoint is £3/hour which seemed a bit steep so I was wondering if there were any other places with a nice view of landings/takeoffs ? iansheff 84 #6 Posted October 6, 2011 Quarry Bank mill is an interesting place, I enjoyed the old schoolhouse the guide there was very knowledgeable. The machinery in the mill is fantastic the victorian engineers were really clever people.
 Share this content via...
LDeville 10 #7 Posted October 6, 2011 Hi Come to London. Many that live toward slough get a free view for at least 12 hours a day and every 50 seconds or so. they get to see all of the fleets and best planes. Even in london, during the week, people would look up just after luhch time when that little plane with the long nose flew over making ten times the noise of a
 Share this content via...

When we were taxiing to the runway bound for Heraklion in Crete, a whole group of people were stood waving at the plane.
 Share this content via...

Shadowmoss Road is about your best bet if the weather is fine. Interestingly, there is a small green at the airport end of Shadowmoss where two houses used to stand until an aeroplane hit them in the fifties. They decided not to build on that bit of land afterwards.
 Share this content via...
