An ex had a 2002 vtr and it was very nippy and handled fantastic as standard. build quality wasn't the best and the seat bolsters rubbed through in no time at all.

Seriously, VTRs are terrible!

Whether it's the 95bhp or 100 bhp version they are both poor

Handle well when in good weather conditions otherwise they understeer like heck!

Things to look out for:

Make sure heating comes out of heater for a starter!

Clutch, make sure the gears change smoothly, as the gearbox is awful! Make sure they do not crunch in any shape or form.

Majority of Saxos are more than likely abused! The only positive is that the VTR engines are only 100 quid lol.

The only Saxo I haven't had a problem with was the 1.4 west coast, good economy, decent handling, slow as a snail.

As has already been said, insurance companies don't generally like them, so it's likely to be pricey to insure.

But boy racers do like 'em, so it's likely to have had it's nads thrashed off it at some point.

for something in the age bracket its better than its closest rivals being the 106 and the corsa, cheaper on insurance and has a fair ammount of edge, but the exhausts often blow more

They are cheap to buy, but could be expensive to run. (Repairs).

I think you'd be better off with something like a Ford or a Vauxhall.

Or even a Nissan Micra - if you could stand being seen in one.
