callippo   10 #25 Posted October 6, 2011 you're going to need at least one jazz album.  I'm not a big Miles Davis fan as it happens, but he was one of the few jazz musicians that realised how important albums were becoming in the 60s and 70s. Check out Kind of Blue and In a Silent Way.
 Share this content via...

Can you imagine the difficulty of playing that, when you've just heard it, you're a kid you try to play trumpet or sax or piano or anything really, and just realised Charlie Parker was the best ever. Miles would have been nothing without Bird. Nothing.
 Share this content via...

Bloomdido   10 #34 Posted October 6, 2011 Marillion - Fugazi Marillion - Misplaced Childhood Marillion - Script for a Jesters Tear Marillion - Clutching at Straws Pink Floyd (The entire catalogue) Zeppelin - Houses of the Holy Meat Loaf - Bat out of Hell Bowie - Rise and Fall of Ziggy Stardust.......  So wrong. Marillion were awful. Floyd came good with a couple of albums. "Houses" was the worst Zep album. Bowie is pants. Meat Loaf has entertainment value, that's all. Lockjaw   11 #35 Posted October 6, 2011 I'd agree with plenty of the above; here are a few more off the top of my head...  Rush - Moving Pictures Deep Purple - Made in Japan REM - Green (Way better than Automatic....) The Las Stereolab - Emperor Tomato Ketchup Wings - Band on the Run John Martyn - Solid Air Radiohead - The Bends Herbie Hancock - Headhunters Primal Scream - Screamadelica  None of those are the best ever (that's probably Led Zep IV or Revolver or Stone Roses or.....) but they're all worth a listen.
