Why are the Tories in Power

Recommended Posts

Votes tied, Mmmm I don't think so.

Tories - Seats won 306, total votes 10.7 million

Labour - Seats won 258, total votes 8.6 million

Lib Dem - Seats won 57, total votes 6.8 million

When you look at the figures it should have been the Tories and labour in coalition, they are all adults, they would have set aside their differences for the good of the country wouldn’t they?:shakes:

There was no clear majority...

Conservative: 49.3%

Labour: 41.5%

Liberal: 9.2%

how quickly that soon gets forgotten.

Can't often bring myself to watch it that often. Cameron bullying, blustering and totally superficial. Clegg behind him either like a nodding dog or just looking embarrassed. Miliband gurning and pulling faces like a spoilt kid.

Because labour screwed it up royally. Now it seems everyone's blaming hardship on the Tories but the truth is, there was no other way for the country to recover from what labour did.

You mean from what the banks did.

If you turn your mind back to just before the last general election, people were complaining that there was no party worth voting for, to the extent that some were even trying to start their own party, (remember the 'None of the above' party?)

They were right. None of the parties is up to the job, and the coalition is hopeless and weak. It neither represents the people of this country, nor is it clever enough to guide us out of this crisis. It is still wasting money hand over fist, while punishing ordinary people with swingeing cuts.

What happened to real Democracy in this country?

You mean from what the banks did.

Indeed. This seems to be a particularly hard message to get across to some people.

What the banks were allowed and encouraged to do do you mean?

Did the banks also force people to live beyond their means, get into huge debts that they could not pay back and then default on their payments?

Did the banks force people to go out and buy properties or second properties that they could not really afford thus causing a false demand on the housing market and price increases which subsequently have now crashed?

Did the banks force people into univeristy without the sufficient drive, ambition or accademic mmerit, doing degrees on media, art, david beckham studies thus getting into massive student debts without any thought or care as to how it would help them a good job and pay it back?

Did the banks force the massive overspend in the public sector including the creation of useless organisations/community groups/campaigns and the subsequent high paid managers, directors, deputy managers, supervisors, officers, administrative staff, support staff without any thought of the dent in the public purse...... thus creating the massive national debt we currently have?

NO. but god forbid you try telling that to a "protestor".

WE ARE ALL TO BLAME for the current situation. When will some of you people get it. Banks, governments, corporations, self employed and even us people have a responsibility and grow up and deal with the mess we are in.

The tories are the only ones who seem to give a damn and are actually adult enough to realise the cuts are necessary. Adult enough to realise that the spending had to stop. Adult enough to admit that cuts will hurt some people. Adult enough to admit sorting this mess will take time. But they can also see how it will change things in the long run.

Alternatively, if you want to stick your head in the sand instead then go ahead......... take a look at the news and you might see what happened to other countries that did that.
