ricgem2002 Â Â 11 #806 Posted November 1, 2011 Where is money being taken from the poor, the disabled and less fortunate? And you do know the money wasn't just given to the banks, firstly most of it was guarantees and the rest was shares and loans. And finally IT WAS THE PREVIOUS GOVERNMENT WHO DID THIS!!!!!!!!!!!!!! maybe this gov should reverse the tide then (ill not hold my breath)
 Share this content via...
Mecky   10 #807 Posted November 1, 2011 Ok, so what facts support your claim above that anybody who supports the government "is saying that they are happy that money being taken from the poor, the disabled and the less fortunate in order to pay for the mistakes of multi millionaire bankers"?  Same old supposed bories, always trying to bully people with statistics etc ... calm down dear
 Share this content via...
Whyt Lindow   10 #808 Posted November 1, 2011 (edited) No they aren't. That's just a view you fabricate based on your own class envy/hatred.  I'm sorry, I don't remember taking rather large gambles with another persons money.  But hey! I suppose we all make mistakes, can't just blame the bankers on this.  The previous government did what they had to, the large deficit could mean that the money went where it was needed rather than where the most capital is coming from.  Although that doesn't mean I support labour. To be frank, I don't support any of the parties currently on offer. Edited November 1, 2011 by Whyt Lindow Cos' I felt like it. Keith Rich   10 #810 Posted November 1, 2011 I have far far more confidence in this government than the previous one. Whether they can get us out of this mess is debatable.  Unfortunately they were left a disasterous legacy of malfeasance, overspend and debt.  Due to the bankers greed and stupidity. WeX   10 #811 Posted November 1, 2011 Due to the bankers greed and stupidity.  talking of stupid, Keith, what is your definition of "living memory"?  pssst, you might want to read this: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sheffield_Hallam_(UK_Parliament_constituency)#Elections_in_the_1990s  :hihi:
 Share this content via...
Titanic99   10 #812 Posted November 1, 2011 Oh the irony.  Ok, so what facts support your claim above that anybody who supports the government "is saying that they are happy that money being taken from the poor, the disabled and the less fortunate in order to pay for the mistakes of multi millionaire bankers"?  Come on , show facts which demonstrate they are saying that.  Given that it is Government policy to reduce the deficit by reducing the Benefits that poor people get, how else could a supporter of the Government not be saying this.  They could try an alternative, by making those responsible pay for it via an increase in taxation.  I know it's radical, but how about making those who caused the problem pay, as opposed to those that had nothing to do with it. His plans aren't perfect by any means but they are a massive step in the righ direction towards a much simplified benefits system. I think all the parties should be lending support because it's an important reform.  I hate pretty much every thing else about the government but praise where it is due. MrSmith   10 #815 Posted November 1, 2011 Which benefits have been cut?  I thought benefits just went up by 5%, whilst workers pay as gone down or stagnated, it’s the benefit claimants that should be getting less, not the workers.
