Getting access to an old hotmail account. Is it possible?

Recommended Posts

Hi,

I have an old hotmail account that I have not used for a few years now.

I have some information on there that I never thought I would need, until now :|

I have tried to reset the password but when I put the e-mail address in the password retrieval form, it is saying that the Windows live ID is invalid.

Does that mean that because I have not used it for so long it as automatically closed down, or, is there a way I can regain access? :help:

Thanks

Im pretty sure after a certain period of activity it is 'suspended' but not deleted, best bet it to contact support.

Hi,

I am having exactly the same problem & getting the exact same message.

Did you manage to get access to your account? If so, how?

If you had to contact the support team, do you have their number?

Your help is much appreciated & thanks in advance.

http://www.hotmail.com will have all the contact details, I have a similar problem, several years ago I set up Xbox Live on my 360 using an old Hotmail address, now that address is no longer active and I've forgot the password to re-activate it :(

Thanks Rich.

Finding the contact details on http://www.hotmail.com isn't that easy though, as it just takes you to a lots of links to FAQ's.

There's a probably a number somewhere but I haven't been able to find it at the moment.

If you find it, please PM it me or post it in this thread.

Much appreciated.

Sorry for the late reply.

This is the response I got from the query I sent:

'After 270 days of no activity, the account folders and emails are deleted.

After a year, the address is completely removed.'

So, it looks like there is no hope for me :(

If you ever used Outlook Express, or Outlook with your Hotmail account, and have not re-installed your computer, or changed computers, the email(s) should still be in there...

Just a thought!

This is about the 5th computer/laptop I have used since then.

Thanks for the suggestion but it seems there is definitely no hope!

Hi Catherine,

Could you let me know how you contacted hotmail in the first place?

Via phone or e-mail? Please could you post their tel number or e-mail address if you have them?

Thanks for yor help.

Much appreciated.

Hi,

I went through http://explore.live.com/hotmail-help-center and then clicked the option for trouble logging in.

It then gives some popular problems and the answers or you can post a topic in the forum/request further assistance and will receive an e-mail when you have a reply.

Thanks Catherine.

Do you actually get the reply from a customer support agent or is it just from other users like you & me?

I can't believe it this hard to just speak to a customer support agent!!
