ray320cd   10 #13 Posted September 22, 2011 (edited) Save your money and have it serviced instead, the factory settings will give the best compromise between power and reliabiliy. If you do have some modifications done to the engine management system don't forget to tell the insurance company.  LOL yes it gives best compromise but defeinitely not the BEST setting either!  A remap makes your car more responsive, so if you plant your foot it will register quicker and MPG will decrease quicker (less turbo lag) but the car will be quicker! However, if your foot is lighter on the gas, you will find the MPG is better  If you are to remap, make sure it's a recommended company who make their own maps, and has lots of recommendation from the owner forums  The best I have encountered for my BMW's is emaps  DO NOT GO FOR CHEAP! warning Also, don't go for maximum output eithet try go for a map designed for inbetween, for example 150bhp to 180 - 190 not 200 bhp! Andrew_M Â Â 10 #15 Posted September 23, 2011 JBS in Chesterfield for VAG stuff, bloke at work had a mobile 'remap' on his Golf TDI, took it to Nobles, put it on the rollers and it was all over the place. Got his money back, went to JBS with a lot more () and had a 'custom code remap' back to nobles and it came out super silky smooth - the multiple audi's/VW's he's had since have all gone to JBS for the same thing. Incredible results, super frugal, fast, no smoke, no issues...
 Share this content via...
alchresearch   214 #16 Posted September 23, 2011 Remapping is common on the Peugeot 407 diesels and improves economy everytime. There's a known issue on cars a few years old where a flat spot develops.  Even the dealers acknowledge this and do an "ECU update" to correct it. forum69 Â Â 11 #18 Posted September 23, 2011 Personally id recomend the DTUK tuning chip, with a DTUK tuning box your engine can run more efficiently plus give you more bhp, and you would be looking at half the price of a remap
 Share this content via...
