Opinions on the Westfield area?

I want to move back to the S20 area of Sheffield and Westfield is the realistically priced option for me. I cannot afford to move back to good old Waterthorpe (unless I go back to mum and dad's!).

 

I have heard mixed things about Westfield over the years but was wondering what it is like these days?

 

The area I currently live in has a reputation but I have never had any problems, so I am keen to get honest opinions and not just go on old stories.

My mother lived there a few years ago and she hated it. She ended up taking a 13k hit on the price of her house just to get out

Whereabouts did you (or mother) live? I have heard its particular bad around the shops/school area.

Lived on Westfield for past 26yrs never had one incident towards myself or on my street.

Yes there are areas to avoid like the flats or the shops, but that is the same anywhere you go, I wouldnt fancy walking past the little shop at Waterthorpe on my own at night!

 

As long as you keep yourself to yourself you wont have a problem.

depends where you live.. shops are a horrid.. challoner green area are just as bad.. since sunday 3 flats inc ours have been broken into in broad daylight... cant wait to move away from this s**t hole!!!

hi, i lived there from nov 09- aug 10, hated it, glad i moved, local toe-rags above the law , council wouldnt help and cops cant do owt either, give it a wide berth !!!!!!!!!!!!!!

the further you get to Westfield Centre the worse it gets. Outskirts arnt as bad

There's a few places round Waterthorpe that have just become available to let, just incase you might be interested. As for westfield, well I live just before the junction that seperates Waterthorpe and Westfield and even driving a few hundred yards onto Westfield in my car I don't feel safe enough.

Dont live there but had to take my mum to the health centre the other week and couldnt belive what a dump it was ( i only went round that area) we got shouted at by local youths and i was worried i was going to have my car damaged with all the car parts all over the car park, wont be going again in a hurry
