I got a quote off them for some dampproofing work and it was the cheapest of the three quotes I got. I actually thought it was TOO cheap, and went with another company in the end (this other company also seemed more knowledgeable and proactive).

 

The proprietor from H&L was friendly enough though, although his phone kept ringing and he answered it each time, which I thought was a bit rude.

 

Obviously I can't comment on the standards of their work, but those are my impressions of them.

I`ve used them before. They did the pointing on my house, though it wasn`t during the last couple of years, more like 5 or 6 years ago. They did the job, very pleasant people, so no complaints here

I had my damp proofing done by them when i bought my old house about 6 years ago, i have no complaints about them

i had same probs claimed i also needed all plaster off 1mtr high and new dpc put in,

i had another company who said nothing wrong with the dpc the house needed better ventilation and central heating put in,

 

but thanks thanks to h and l my mortgage broker held 8k back until we had works done and cover letters to say no need for work quoted to be carried out

I used them a while ago - probably 8 or 9 years ago and they were not good. The damp course failed within 5 years, they did some work on the outside render of the house which fell off within 2 years, and they irritated my then neighbours into the bargain by dropping cement all over their garden and not tidying it up.

Go anywhere else.

When I bought my house this year, the estate agent called in these guys to check a damp issue. They never actually did any work but didn't make a great impression.

 

Took around 2-3 weeks to come out and check the problem and send out the report which held things up, also only actually checked one room not the whole house!

 

I asked them to come out after purchase to check the whole house which they did but they never sent me the new report as promised.

 

My problems ended up being condensation which we've been able to sort by improving ventilation in the house ourselves.

 

Spoke to an independent damp specialist who said they had a good reputation but wouldn't have used them myself.

When it took so long did you keep chasing them up?

 

My calls are currently been ignored by them and they avoiding me
