Alcoblog   10 #14 Posted August 19, 2011 Does it really matter if Longshaw is in Derbyshire or not, which it is. Erm ... is there something wrong with this post or is it just me?
 Share this content via...
Guest   #15 Posted August 19, 2011 Sheffield forum, where the simplest of questions is turned into an argument! You've got to admire the tenacity demonstrated here though .  The bloke probably just wants a trip out of the city to see some rocks, sheep and mud; straying across the borders won't get him shot. OP: get thi sen to Chatsworth .
 Share this content via...
Alcoblog   10 #16 Posted August 19, 2011 Sheffield forum, where the simplest of questions is turned into an argument! Hey! ... no one's arguing! (which I've already stated) ... It seems quite interesting to me to know exactly where the Derbyshire/Yorkshire divide is ... that's all! I'm just quite interested to find this out as there seem to be conflicting points of view. Topographically, I've not got a problem ... both counties are very beautiful! Are you not interested to learn something?
 Share this content via...

Topographically, I've not got a problem ... both counties are very beautiful! Are you not interested to learn something?  LOL.... Both the areas are lovely. I get up there quite a lot for various reasons (cycling, walking, climbing). Thanks for reminding me of Padley Gorge, not been there for ages, might have a nip up at weekend..  Yes, 98% of the Longshaw Estate is in Derbyshire, just stating the fact that some of it fall in South Yorkshire, including the main entrance to the estate... As does the whole of Burbage Moor.. It is quite interesting..
 Share this content via...

six45ive   10 #23 Posted August 20, 2011 (edited) Hey! ... come on, I'm not gonna argue with you. There's obviously some kind of confusion here. I honestly phoned Longshaw Estate up earlier (specifically about boundaries) and was assured that all of their estate is within the realms of Derbyshire. I was told that Burbage was too. I have Google Earth but it doesn't seem to work as well as yours as it shows no boundaries. I'm certainly not arguing with you though ... I just thought that anywhere west of S17 was Derbyshire. (don't get me wrong ... I'm quite interested to find out more , now that the subject has been raised)  On Google Earth you need to activate the boundary layer found down the left hand side. Without a doubt Longshaw is in Derbyshire and Burbage is in Sheffield. This may help. http://www.panoramio.com/photo/28436499 http://www.panoramio.com/photo/28436571 http://www.panoramio.com/photo/28436423 This road marks the border between Sheffield and Derbyshire. http://www.panoramio.com/photo/28436634 All my photos are taken within the Sheffield border (with the exception of parts of Rother Valley Country Park) sometimes with views outside of the city's bounderies like these. http://www.panoramio.com/photo/28433518 http://www.panoramio.com/photo/30695243 http://www.panoramio.com/photo/46413850 Edited August 20, 2011 by six45ive
 Share this content via...
six45ive   10 #24 Posted August 20, 2011 I also meant to say that you can't beat Bradfield and Bradfield Dale if you want to enjoy the countryside within Sheffield's border. http://www.panoramio.com/map/#lt%3D53.423179%26ln%3D-1.604576%26z%3D4%26k%3D2%26a%3D1%26tab%3D1
 Share this content via...
