Recommended Posts

Been out of the city for a few days come back today and someone has informed me that Myers Grove School Stannington had been set on fire, is this true? or is it just rumor. The information i have is 'it happened yestarday(14/8) morning, it took the firemen like 3 hours to put it out'

Whoops - they haven't moved all the stuff across to the new school yet. Hope it wasn't too serious :-o

Looks like it wasn't too bad as it was part that was disused - http://www.syfire.gov.uk/1554.asp

Which was part of Myers Grove school before it was the college, so technically still a correct statement.

Hello, just to confirm the fire was in a derelict building once part of Myers Grove School on Wood Lane, Stannington. The fire took hold under some old staging, but did not spread to the rest of the school. It's believed the fire was started deliberately.
