New Optio Ticket/Service

Recommended Posts

They have not been withdrawn, infact the 50p fare is now valid along the entire route.

I'm only going on what a driver told me. First don't seem to have updated their website at all.

Will keep trying to get the fare then.

I can honestly say im not happy

Dont get me wrong nostalgia is a part of it, ive got the 41 bus since i was a baby

long before it even went to crystal peaks (Turned at the Hogshead terminus)

Whats got me is my daughter is starting All Saints in September, and up until this happened she could safely get a bus from the end of our street to the door of the school.

For her to get there now she will either have to walk down Birley spa lane on her own to get a 42 or get a 120 and change buses to get down Granville road.

People say the tram stops outside school but i dont want her to walk too far alone (come september it will start getting darker earlier) so that she can get a tram to school

The other gripe is if anyone who lives between the shops on birley spa lane and the shops at Frechville they cant get a bus straight to the bottom of the moor or any of Arundel gate they would either have to walk further or change buses.

The lack of consultation with the public on this is ridiculous as is the routes theyve decided to set up.

The 41 has been the same route (granted extra miles have been added each end) for longer than ive been around. i hope that someone with common sense who works for the bus company reads all these threads and take notice and do something about it.

It's the council and the SYPTE that have thought up this pathetic and unworkable scheme, so we should really be complaining to them. Already lodged a complaint in.

Has no one considered now that they are aiding and abetting each other through a Cartel - funny how they matched their prices (Stagecoach & First) from Sunday when this scheme launched. Not to mention no longer competing for passengers as they did before.

This has been a change for the worse and not for the better.

To the numpties at the council and SYPTE, how about coming down from your high horse next time and actually asking the passengers who use these services if they would like the services changing or not!!!

SYPTE are the public transport authority, they have brought forward this agreement. The Council have limited input.

It isn't a cartel and everyone involved is acting within the law.

The Local Transport Act 2008 enables SYPTE to agree frequencies,

timings, secure co-ordination, registration restrictions and maximum

fares with Operators, subject to satisfying itself that the public interest

outweighs competition impacts. Additionally Operators on a corridor

have the ability to agree to accept each other’s tickets within certain

limitations.

If you don't like the scheme, you need to complain directly to SYPTE.

This is another terrible decision. For 45 years the 60 bus (and then for a reason no one could explain, the renamed 40 bus) went from the Interchange to Fulwood and back. Now in their "wisdom" this route is now a through-route going from Fulwood to Halfway. This benefits none and inconveniences many. Through routes NEVER run as well, as they have two lots of city centre traffic to get through. This means that busses invariably run late making a mockery of the timetable.

Since this began, almost every bus at the terminus has to go straight out as there is no time for the bus to stop. Pity the poor drivers.

It's stupid, short-sighted decision that I can only guess is cost related. Everyone (on both ends of the new route) is worse off.

Already complained to SYPTE and have heard nothing. But why would they when it is their doing and their scheme in the all.

Has no one noticed how many 120s are now running together, saw 6 in a row yesterday evening on City Road alone. Would have never had that with the 41 or the old 120 before SYPTE decised to pi*s about with the route and times. A complete and utter joke.

Still, they will not stop pi*sing about with the bus services and times until they reach their goal, to run the bus services in Sheffield and South Yorkshire again and fund this no doubt through increases in our council tax as occurrs down in London!

For people just going to/from town it is an improvement.

If you mean on Sunday or evenings, then yes an improvement.

Peak time and day time it is not an improvement - at best little change.

If you are travelling from between Hallamshire and Crystal Peaks it is little changed - now every 4-5 mins, was every 3-4.

Hallamshire to Fulwood, or Peaks to Halfway there is less than half the service -every 8-10 mins, was every 3-4.

Fulwood to Lodge Moor - service withdrawn

And depends where in town you want to go - as described here the change in routes means inconvenience to many, another is much longer journey from west street to station (compared to old 60/40 route). At least 5 mins longer, can be 10 mins+

How many Councillors sit of the board of the SYPTE/Transport authority? And who funds the PTE?

5 together at one stage today, although partly caused by Glossop road being closed. But if the First ones (old 40)still terminated in town then they could have turned around quicker instead of being in a convoy up City Road.

No end of people getting confused with which tickets they should buy, then being refused travel due to wrong ticket purchased. Or buying single tickets to Halfway/ Fulwood then having to pay again when they realise that only one company serves one area.

Totally agree, whilst the 120 is getting stuck on Glossop Road, 41 would be just going down Granville into town and back, now people who live on Duke St only have the 120 and have to wait for the convoys to arrive, but two weeks ago they could have got a 42,44,or 49, that would not have been in the diversion on Glossop Road

so I tried to purchase a student ticket on the 120 on pond street going up to Fulwood. No joy, driver said they aren't doing them anymore. Lots of confusing stand offs and lots of time wasted as the driver had to tell people again and again that they couldn't get the ticket they had been buying on that route for the last year.

this is what happens when you make changes with no notice or public notification. Nowhere did it say that the 50p fare was being removed.

If the bus companies want to work a route together then surely the same fare structures should apply to all buses on that route? The stagecoach 120's still offer a student fare at 60p. Guess who I'll be travelling with from now on.
