Vini   10 #1 Posted November 9, 2005 What can you tell me about S10 & The area around the Hallamshire Hospital  I am considering a move to S10 just behind the Springfield Tavern, what can you tell me about the area.  How busy is it in rush hour (to and from meadowhall)? How safe is the area (at all times)? How loud is the Springfield Tavern and what are its customers like? Is there any trouble around? Whats car security like (on road)? What is parking like for residents? Does the Hallamshire Hospital cause problems with Parking? How much is a parking permit in this area? Is it the Red Light District? (as rumoured - or close to)  Sorry to be vague with the questions, but its a big move, need to get a feel for it.
 Share this content via...

laalaa   10 #4 Posted November 9, 2005 I used to live on Broomspring Lane (near the Springfield Tavern end) so I'll try and answer.  How busy is it in rush hour (to and from meadowhall)?  Not been to Meadowhall itself during rush hour but Hanover Way has pretty bad traffic during rush hour.  How safe is the area (at all times)?  I never had any trouble when I lived there when out during the day or at night. There was occasionally the odd small group of 16 year olds standing about but they were harmless.  Street lighting isn't too good on some of the roads though, so sometimes feels a bit more dangerous than it is.  How loud is the Springfield Tavern and what are its customers like?  Only went in once on a Saturday night and seemed a bit quiet and very 'local'. Has a cheap pool table though.  Whats car security like (on road)?  Never saw broken glass, but never had a car there.  What is parking like for residents?  There's usually spaces about as it's mostly residents only.  Does the Hallamshire Hospital cause problems with Parking?  No because of the above.  How much is a parking permit in this area?  Think it's about £37.50 per year. Should be on the Sheffield Council website.  Is it the Red Light District? (as rumoured - or close to)  No. It hasn't been for years. As far as I know the red light district is around Kelham Island so it's not close either.
 Share this content via...

markg   10 #6 Posted November 10, 2005 I've lived in S10 for 4 years, it's one of the most expensive (property) areas in Sheffield. It's mostly students and professionals (in Broomhill and Crookes anyway) and is a very safe area.
 Share this content via...

You can also check on what has been licensed in the way of entertainments.
 Share this content via...
Deavon   10 #11 Posted November 11, 2005 Well I live in just this area and I have to tell you... It's great!  Just expect drunk, late night students.  Sirens (Hallam Ambulance).  Beats from the Student Union on their many events.  Car crime galore!  Botanic Gardens fixation.  Adopting the 'Sharrow Vale shopping walk'  All round general improvement in lifestyle.  (like I said... 'It's great!')
 Share this content via...
