zimplistic   10 #1 Posted June 28, 2011 Hi all,  I am wanting a few pointers on building a 5m x 2.5m x 3m outdoor shed  I would like to build it on my back garden,  How deep would the concrete base need to be?  I would like it to be completely weatherproof/watertight  It is 15m away from my house, would I need planning permission/build permission for this size?  I don't mind digging,  Has anyone built anything similar - if so, what did it cost?  I appreciate any constructive help toward this, thankyou.
 Share this content via...

Mr Gobby   10 #4 Posted June 28, 2011 Also the council may not like the idea of B/Blk, unless your thinking of a tyrolean/render finish.
 Share this content via...

rudds1 Â Â 102 #8 Posted June 28, 2011 if you ,ve got loads of soil to move ring skip companies up ask for price on a skip then when they have told you price ask for a discount as you,re digging a garden out i did and got some money knocked off price of skip . also all prices i,ve quoted above there was no labour as me and brother did all work ourselves so you might have to budget for trades people etc . If you are not building any closer to the road it should fall within permitted development. The council did come round to my way of thinking eventually. You could also plant climbers round the outside to blend it in with the garden.   http://www.planningportal.gov.uk/wps/portal/portalhome/unauthenticatedhome/!ut/p/c5/04_SB8K8xLLM9MSSzPy8xBz9CP0os3gjtxBnJydDRwMLbzdLA09nSw_zsKBAIwN3U_1wkA6zeHMXS4gKd29TRwNPI0s3b2e_AGMDAwOIvAEO4Gig7-eRn5uqX5CdneboqKgIAGUwqho!/dl3/d3/L2dBISEvZ0FBIS9nQSEh/
 Share this content via...

andikay   10 #11 Posted June 29, 2011 Thanks for that,  Did you 'ask' the council first?  Or did you build it, then a few month later they came knocking?  Thanks  She was a council tenant so had to ask, but if you are an owner and it falls within permitted development you can just build it. You can ring the council and ask for advice without telling them who you are.
 Share this content via...
