ChrisT70   10 #49 Posted June 14, 2011 Cringe worthy alright, but we'll probably disagree about the reaason. 4 cop cars and a police helicopter to catch two little scroats off roading on a couple of bikes? (They were riding on rough ground until being chased by cops.)  The commentary made it sound as though they'd just arrested the great train robbers. For the sort of money this must have cost they could have arrested the great train robbers....  Is it just me that wants my taxes paid to actually catch real criminals rather than daft kids and motorists.   they are real criminals, they ride on the roads and footpaths without insurance. how will you feel if they injure your family or your vehicle and you get sweet fa compensation as they have no insurance and no savings to sue them for?  also the locals have to put up with noise nuisance, spoiling their lives. you may also have failed to notice that the bloke they nicked on the offroad bike was actually wanted for recall to prison for theft and was sent back? (They were riding on rough ground until being chased by cops.)  For those of who live in the area and have put up with road bikes being driven about with what seemed to be impunity for a decade its a case of about time. Far less teenagers on triles bikes tarring around these days, so it is working.
 Share this content via...
stevie1957 Â Â 10 #51 Posted June 14, 2011 (edited) .... Is it just me that wants my taxes paid to actually catch real criminals rather than daft kids and motorists. Â How would you like it if one of your family was pushing a pram with a baby and a bike came flying past you with three (yes..THREE) idiots on screaming in your ear? They were both terrified. Â As ChrisT put...these are real criminals.... and a blight on our community. Edited June 14, 2011 by stevie1957 Spelling
 Share this content via...
Tess   10 #52 Posted June 14, 2011 Its programmes like this that make my friends from Rochdale reluctant to come over for the night - they think they will end up with their shoes nicked. and thats saying something, compared to where they're from..... chem1st   10 #54 Posted June 14, 2011 Why was the copper hoovering out the car? He should have been out catching burglars. Get some cleaners in to look after the domestics!  You'd think they would have a cleaner doing that.  The officers hours could be reduced/beat time increased and savings made.  False economy to have highly paid people cleaning, when it can be done for min wage. chem1st   10 #58 Posted June 20, 2011 Highly paid? Yeah right......  It's more than minimum wage.  For sake of £15k a cleaner can be employed to clean the cars and allow the officers more time out on the beat.  For sake of £15k a cleaner can clean all the cars. The resulting amount of time saved, can be increased a little and used to patrol the roads of South Yorkshire.  Highly paid coppers shouldn't be cleaning, when somebody else could do it for less.  Paying a cleaner to work an hour could result in a bobby (not as efficient at cleaning as the cleaner), being able to patrol his beat an extra hour and 10 minutes.  Why employ a bobby to clean, when you can employ a cleaner and end up with a higher labour supply of bobbies.  Coppers wages are high when compared to others. Especially cleaners.
 Share this content via...
