GrannyGranny   10 #25 Posted May 25, 2011 Having looked at the application and the site of the mast I must say it will be an eyesore. That would be my main objection to it. Objections based on medical reasons will not hold any water with planning. They have passed lots of applications in urban areas so will not object to this one on those grounds. You're fighting against a huge telecommunications company. Suggesting an alternative site as one of the objectors has done may be your best bet. It does seem a little obvious and very close to the road/houses.
 Share this content via...
Bonjon   10 #26 Posted May 25, 2011 Surley it would be better suited up near the cow and calf, or even with the other masts??
 Share this content via...
andysvan   10 #27 Posted May 25, 2011 Lucky people in Grenoside! I wish they would put another phone mast up near me, my signal at home is terrible!
 Share this content via...
alchresearch   213 #28 Posted May 25, 2011 Exactly, it's all in peoples heads.  Literally - brain cancer!  Like everything else, it needs long term study before conclusions can be reached.  They are dangerous, without a doubt - some of the warning signs on installations are very scary. But only at close range.
 Share this content via...
CrazyOwl   10 #29 Posted May 25, 2011 I wander how many of the pro people on this thread would have the same attitude if it was on their front doorstep?  I wish it was , my mobile signal here is shocking sometimes.
 Share this content via...
Cyclone   10 #30 Posted May 25, 2011 I wander how many of the pro people on this thread would have the same attitude if it was on their front doorstep?  It would make it difficult to get out of the door. But other than that, we all jam phones next to our heads, why would a mast that is significantly further away bother anyone? (Anyone who has a rudimentary understanding of physics anyway). (Anyone who has a rudimentary understanding of physics anyway).  I'm not on about people thinking they will be walking around with 2 heads after living near one. I'm on about the astetics of a 12mtr green pole shoved in the middle of a Village.  I use T-mob, Voda and O2 and have never had a signal issue on any, I dont see the need for the mast anyway. Cyclone   10 #32 Posted May 25, 2011 I doubt that the phone company want to put it up for a laugh, they aren't in the habit of wasting money, so it must be needed.  The objection raised by the OP isn't an aesthetic one, it's a riff on "won't someone think of the children". If appearance was the issue then the masts can be made to look like street lamps or even trees (sort of).
 Share this content via...

scimsfan   10 #36 Posted May 25, 2011 There's already a huge mast about half a mile away along Steel Hill. Why don't they just put it next to that ? It would be further up the hill so should give a better signal to both Grenoside and the top of Fox Hill. http://maps.google.co.uk/maps?f=q&source=s_q&hl=en&geocode=&q=grenoside+sheffield&aq=&sll=53.800651,-4.064941&sspn=21.119983,60.908203&ie=UTF8&hq=&hnear=Grenoside,+Sheffield,+United+Kingdom&layer=c&cbll=53.436717,-1.499632&panoid=f-4z6rzTrbGFmF2JqqptBQ&cbp=12,236.04,,0,5.78&ll=53.436716,-1.499462&spn=0,0.02974&z=
 Share this content via...
