Is the council housing system fair

Recommended Posts

I put my name on the houseing register when i was sixteen a year later i went to the housing with my mum and got a two bed masonet for me end my son we where living at my mums who bought there home i was sharing a room with my sister who was still at school. it only took me a week to get that property 5 years later i had to move again due to surtain surcumstances i got a 2 bed house witch took me 6 months i am now moving again in to a 3 bed house due to over crouding i have only been here 5 years so why cant people who ave been on 20 or more years get one it dont seem fair to me.

My bold - I'm proof it works!

Please don't add content when quoting me. It makes people think i am contradicting myself and almost unreadable.

The council had to pay to build the houses in the first place.

Yes and those houses have more than paid for themselves in rent over the years.

No it doesn't, you're right. However, there is nothing stopping you privately renting.

There is nothing stopping you but why would you spend £500 when you can live in a house for £400?

When I had a private rental property I paid £500 for a very nice house in a nice area..... I then bought my own house 3 years ago. So it is doable (because I have a job, I look after my money etc etc.)

Congratulations. Not everyone is as lucky as you....

What makes you think it should be the council's responsibility to provide homes for people in Sheffield? I have made it my own responsibility to provide my own home :)

Wish I could get hold of the 20 grand for a deposit to do that luvvie. You're so much better than the rest of us. It must be a difficult burdon to carry :D

You can, it's called saving every penny you can for 3 to 4 years.

Not spending on going out/holidays etc.
