It’s time to put the boot in at Owlerton Greyhound Stadium!

Owlerton Greyhound Stadium will be hosting its first ever Car Boot sale on Sunday 24th July. The Stadium have teamed up with Yorkshire Car Boot Markets Ltd, who since April this year had previously operated the popular car boot sale at the Motorpoint Arena. They have now decided to re-locate their operation to Yorkshire’s premier greyhound stadium.

Visitors will be able to gain access from 6am on Sunday and will normally be charged £8 per car and £13 per van, although there will be a special offer to mark the first event and prices will be discounted down to £4 per car and £7 per van. Entrance to the Stadium will be priced at 70p per person. Potential stall holders or visitors can contact the Stadium for further information.

John Gilburn, Managing Director of Owlerton Greyhound Stadium said: “Car boot sales have increased in popularity over the past few years and so we expect the event will attract a great deal of interest from both buyers and sellers, and may possibly become a weekly fixture here at the Stadium. Everyone is welcome - and we are looking forward to seeing the bargains on offer!”

For further information please call Owlerton Stadium on 0114 234 3074

Owlerton this morning was garbage won't go again and would advise people not to go and go to Hillsborough Arena instead. The 70p entrance put many people off was the comment from many people there. We had decent stuff that was selling well at Hillsborough last week until the rain started, confident we'd have flogged everything at Hillsborough but Owlerton was dead footfall very poor!!!! Will not step foot in the place again. Only the second car boot we've done all with the aim of getting some bits for our new house, won't be buying a Dyson with the poor profit today!!!

Hi - I've just joined up to the forum. Checked this thread out before when looking to do our first car boot a month or two ago. Ended up at Loxley and it was a really beautiful day and good fun - only down side is that my arms were as red as tomatoes after forgetting the sun cream :-S

We are hoping to do another car boot this coming Sunday (31st July), but don't know what's on - so any suggestions on where's good to go would be really appreciated. We're moving house and need to get rid of a lot of stuff.

I got handed a flyer for the Owlerton car boot on a night out in town the Friday before, which seemed quite strange. Totally expected it to be rubbish as it sounded like it was run by the same people who intended to do the ones at the Motorpoint.

We attempted to do our first car boot at the Motorpoint - got there at 5:50, sat in a queue with others til 6:15, then news filtered out that it had been cancelled. Luckily we had enough time to get back home onto the laptop and find another car boot at Loxley (which was really good!). We were really annoyed though, as we had gone to look around the Motorpoint one the previous week, informed the stewards we were planning on coming the next week and they obviously had no idea it was going to be cancelled.

Read a few posts above. Negative feedback for Owlerton. They seem to have missed the important point that car boot sales are meant to be cheap and car booters are extremely money conscious. I for one feel deterred by entrance & parking fees.

This is a long thread and the recent posts seem to be about new car boots.

Quick question:

I have family visiting me next weekend (Sunday 7th August) and they are well into them.

Can someone tell me of a long running one that will defo be on and is a good size?

Thanks in advance.
