Chase me Charlie Chase me Charlie

Recommended Posts

hi, I'm wondering if anyone can help. . .my mum sings this song and she doesn't know where she got it from. .. she is originally from Cornwall so I don't know if it will have any relevance to people on this forum. . . as I am not at her house I may get some of the lyrics wrong but it goes along the lines of

There's 2 black chickens in our back yard

eating indian corn

one's a bugger for chasing the other over the garden wall

Chase me Charlie chase me charlie over the garden wall bum bum

chase me charlie chase me charlie over the garden wall. . .

thanks

it's definitely that chorus, but I didn't hear anything about the chickens in that unless I missed it but it's definitely that chorus so it must just be an alteration on the same song! Thanks so much :)

No, the words go:-

'' We've got chickens in our back yard,

We feed them on Indian corn,

And one's a bugger

For <REMOVED> the other,

And derdle dee derdle dee dee.''

Chase me Charlie Chase me Charlie - and so on.

There is a sqeeze box tune on Youtube, I'll dig it out again.

It is to the tune of '' **** o' the North''; you can see how the words fit ;)

It is coming back to me - it then merges into:-

'' Auntie Mary

Had a Canary . . . .

The words start getting a bit rude after that.

aunty mary had a canary up the leg of her drawers

she pulled the string to make it sing

and out popped santa claus.

I used to sing that as a child not knowing what it meant. I'm hoping no one does now either.

Aunty Mary had a canary

Up the leg of her drawers

When she farted, out it darted

To a round of applause
