Music shop on Leopold Street ..

Recommended Posts

Hi, can anyone remember the name of the music shop on Leopold Street?

It sold musical instruments on the ground and upper floors and records downstairs.

You could also purchase tickets for gigs at the City Hall from there.

I spent many hours in there as a teenager but I seem to think it closed down in the mid Eighties and became a GT Sports.

We've been trying to think what it was called all night but none of us can remember.

Anybody help?

Pianos on the ground floor, guitars, amps and all the good stuff on the 1st floor. Suited and booted salesmen as I recall. Musical Sounds and Johnsons on London Road were much cooler!!

Canns, down the Moor, just as good but nearer, singles 6/8d apiece, in my day. Nice eyecandy as well.

Canns used to be at the top of Dixon Lane, at least in my day. 50s/60s. I bought my first trumpet from there. 17 guineas.
