i went past at 4pm on the bus to see it all cordened off, this is 200 yards from my house but i was not evacuated or notified by the police at all.

 

i have returned at 11pm to find no trace visable of the incident any more

 

so tragically sad rip and condolences the family of the individual involved.

If hydrogen sulphide was the culprit, then it was a gas leak. There are innumerable different gases besides the one that come out of your gas pipe...
