Recommended Posts

news release

Emergency services and staff from Sheffield City Council are dealing with an ongoing chemical-related incident on Holland Place in Sheffield.

A number of properties on Holland Place have been evacuated as a precautionary measure while officers from South Yorkshire Fire & Rescue and specialist teams from the Ambulance Service assess a potentially hazardous substance found at an address on the road.

At this stage, emergency services do not believe the chemical poses an immediate threat to the public but assessments are taking place.

Holland Place and parts of London Road have been closed to the public and motorists are asked to follow directions from police at the scene.

Police were called to an address on Holland Place just before 2pm today following reports of a man found in a serious condition.

There don’t appear to be any suspicious circumstances relating to this incident.

In all seriousness though it did look fairly serious down there when I went past. A colleague went by probably not long after it happened and said there were a dozen or so police cars on the scene and when I went by on my way home there were three ambulances, a fire engine, at least a dozen coppers I could see and that white tent set up in the middle of the road.

It's a pity this thread was started by Truthlogic because the (understandable) automatic reaction is to take the michael.

drugs , or body parts dont require full hazard suites! do they?

Drugs might. A vast number of different gases certainly would; indeed it's far more likely to have been a leak of gas than anything else, if they were evacuating the area.
