Yes, yes, yes but Showaddywaddy were just a Rubettes tribute band until Darts came along.

I don't think they'll give a toss at what anyone thinks to be honest :)

Certainly not 50% of them anyway.

You don't know what you are talking about!

Music wouldn't be the same today without The Beatles. You might not be a fan of their music, but you can't deny their genius!

Not without being ignorant anyway!

No need to get upset about it. You wouldn`t be about 60 would you, trying to cling on to your youth?

Beatles are crap.

And who WAS the fifth Beatle?

Yoko of Ono of courso.

While the boys brought their Rickenbackers and Epiphone Casinos into studio 2, Yoko brought her double bed. And when she had to deliver a line on The Continuing Story Of Bungalow Bill, she gave us "Not when he looks so fierce". Well that's up there with Morrissey for me.

Better things were to follow when John decided he was leaving the group. On TOTP, Instant Karma sees Lennon belting out the lyric while our Yoko wears a sanitary towel over her eyes.

Tracy Emin eat your heart out.

I am not a lover of their music either. Penny Lane and Yesterday are fab but thats about it for me.

I know you find it hard to believe Bonzo77 but we all don't have the same taste in music. It would be a boring world if we did :)

Can you believe someone said this to me today??

It's like saying Einstein was thick!

I had to remind the reprobate that popular music would sound nothing like it does if The Beatles wouldn't have invented some of the techniques they did such as cutting and paisting, overdubbing and sampling to name a few.

Some people need to think before they open their mouth. There is a difference between not being a fan and saying that they are crap!!

I understand the cultural significance of The Beatles and their impact on popular music, but for me their rare moments of genius (Tomorrow Never Knows), are weighed down by too many nursery-rhymes (Yellow Submarine, Love Me Do, etc etc).

Fans also have an overriding tendency to overstate the band's legacy. For example, The Beatles absolutely did not invent cutting, pasting, overdubbing or sampling. It is worth remembering some of these techniques, particularly overdubbing, were commonplace in pop music before the release of The Beatles debut single. Tape-loop sampling; the invention of which is regularly and incorrectly attributed to The Beatles; was pioneered in the 1950's by luminaries such as Karlheinz Stockhausen, Dick Mills, Jean-Jacques Perrey, Desmond Briscoe and Terry Riley. The Beatles wore their influences just like any other band, and this can be traced back in a linear fashion: Buddy Holly, Harry Nilsson, The Beach Boys, Little Richard, Elvis, Bob Dylan and Chuck Berry all undoubtedly shaped their music along with aforementioned tape-loop and early electronic composers.

I must admit the world would feel a whole lot emptier without Octopus's Garden, Yellow Submarine and Don't Pass Me By.

And can you dig it, that was just the drummer!

But you're right; they couldn't even hold a light to the Monkees.

Personally, it's the Nolans for me. They were before their time, make no mistake about that and I cannot wait till the Nolans Convention at Blackpool Winter Gardens in August. Strangely enough, there's room for three more passengers in my Sierra.

C'mon, I'll even buy yer a stick a rock.

I'm only coming if the rest of the loose women will be there and I can wear my lycra satin leggings and my boob tube.

Lennon and McCartney had an amazing prolific output. My favourite Beatles songs I often find have been written by Harrison though.

It's like Elvis, I'm not a fan of him myself but you've got to respect their place in music. I don't think there are many people who can say they don't like at least one Beatles tune.

The Beatles are quality but I am sure there was a thread like this posted a while back.

People today know nothing about music the likes of Cheryl Cole dont even know the song Crocodile Rock let alone The Beatles.

I bet half of these who have said 'the Beatles are crap' are between their teens and mid-twenty's.......... you have to forgive their ignorance and stupidity.

The Beatles influenced many of todays bands - Oasis for one.

Beatles music has been in circulation now for 40 years plus, Hey Jude for instance still gets everyone singing...... the majority of todays bands will be forgotton when The Beatles songs are still coming on over the radio.

Trouble with today's youth.....they think they know it all, when in actual fact they know nothing !

If not for calculators and computers they wouldn't be able to add up, went into a supermarket the other week, young girl behind the till, I gave her £2 to make my purchase, she did something wrong with the till and couldn't work out in her head how much change to give me - customer behind me had to do it for her !
