Jack_Russell   11 #1 Posted April 7, 2011 With the local elections now a month away..how hard are the parties trying for your vote.  What election literature have you received through the post What areas of Sheffield are the parties trying hard to get your vote. Just let us know who has been to your door.  So far here in Woodseats nothing as yet, if anything changes I'll let you know.  Cheers
 Share this content via...
alchresearch   206 #2 Posted April 7, 2011 It will be interesting to see which leaflets talk about what the candidate has done for the area, and which just slag off the government or opponents.
 Share this content via...
Ms Macbeth   70 #3 Posted April 7, 2011 We've twice had literature from the Lib Dems here in Hillsborough. Nothing else yet - but I expect we will get some more - at least from the Labour candidate. I'm not interested in national government when I'm voting locally.
 Share this content via...
northernboy   13 #4 Posted April 7, 2011 Just the leaflet about the AV referendum so far, nothing from any of the local candidates.
 Share this content via...
not wanted   10 #5 Posted April 7, 2011 3 lots of Green party stuff, 2 lib dems, labour don't seem interested. To be fair to the Green Party they do seem to be doing stuff all year round rather than just in the run up to an election
 Share this content via...
Jack_Russell   11 #6 Posted April 13, 2011 Here in Woodseats have just received the first election literature, from The Socialist Party.
 Share this content via...
maggi   10 #7 Posted April 13, 2011 Here in Woodseats have just received the first election literature, from The Socialist Party.  We've had this one posted through the door.  We've had an April 2011 Active8 magazine with a two-page advert about the current (Liberal Democrat) councillors.  We've had individually addressed and posted in the mail ones for us all from the 'Vote YES!' people. These have made me cross because they're an appalling waste of paper and postie's effort to deliver multiple copies of celeb-****e with no substance. There may be good arguments to be made for changing the voting system to AV, but just putting a picture of someone who used to be on the telly on top of a fatuous quote about "change" isn't one of them
 Share this content via...
Mo   10 #8 Posted April 22, 2011 The Labour leaflet makes ridiculous, uncosted claims about reinstating all manner of services that have been cut by the Lib Dems. Wild promises when there is no money available. If you fall for that in Sheffield you'll fall for anything.
 Share this content via...
alchresearch   206 #9 Posted April 22, 2011 (edited) The Labour leaflet makes ridiculous, uncosted claims about reinstating all manner of services that have been cut by the Lib Dems. Wild promises when there is no money available. If you fall for that in Sheffield you'll fall for anything.  They really haven't learned anything.  Harriet Harman on TV a week or so ago finally admitted that if they'd won they'd have had to make cuts. Yet a UNISON leaflet on Wednesday said that Labour could have reduced the defecit without making any cuts.  They're all liars and can't accept the simple truth that they overspent. In the same way the the GlibDims lied when they said they would vote against an increase in VAT? Or the pledge to fight University fee increases?
