0742Sheff   10 #4 Posted March 30, 2011 The closest 'carp' lakes i know of are at Shireoaks near Worksop. It used to take me 10 minutes in the car from Intake. That or take the train a few stops. It's got it's own station.  There are a few places in Sheffield with carp in them though. I know crooks has some real big ones in.  [edit] Just remembered. There is a place near the Birly golf course (is that area called Ford?), that had 3 lakes. I believe 2 of those were carp lakes. alex3659   11 #5 Posted March 30, 2011 Lots mate all over , depends where u live n just what u want  Where are there good carp waters in Sheffield suitable for a carp angler and his bivvy? I presume the OP is talking about places to catch big carp.
 Share this content via...

Crookes is rubbish by the way, Also I have heard talk of westwood but that also is nothing special. Sheffield has not got a decent fishery at all. the peggsta   10 #9 Posted March 30, 2011 i wouldnt say crookes is crap, just very hard ! sheffield canal provides some good carp fishing though.there is a sort of carp pond at high green called "nancey" but its only got them in upto about 10 pound and its only a tiny pond with about 8 peggs, its a very shallow water and i think this makes the fish fight really hard.it opened back up about 4 years ago and was stocked with 300 carp(doesnt sound many but it is a tiny pond)
 Share this content via...

0742Sheff   10 #12 Posted March 31, 2011 (edited) Shireoakes... I love that place. There are 3 lakes full of carp but the middle one is used for course fishing as well. The bottom lake at the car park is full of carp up to 20 pound (i'd say the average would be 10 though). No idea what the top lake is holding due to it being a 10 minute walk up in to the woods. I only every went up there once and it was like being in the middle of nowhere.  [edit] There is a little bit of info about the place here......http://www.go-fish.co.uk/venue_2672.htm Edited March 31, 2011 by 0742Sheff
 Share this content via...
