Corner shop Slinn St

Recommended Posts

Can anyone remember the name of the shop on the corner of Slinn St and Heavygate Rd in the 60s and 70s ?

The 1968 and 1973 directories show "Couldwell & Sons, grocers" at 135 Heavygate Road, on the corner of Slinn Street. It was evidently an old-established family business - the 1942 directory shows "Mrs Theresa Couldwell, grocer" at that address.

I remember in the Caroline Cauldwell in the late 60's. She used to go to St Tim's Girl Guides. I have to chuckle because I remember now the Boxer dogs too!
