fox20thc   10 #1 Posted March 12, 2011 Tesco are looking to fill UK vacancies with Slovakian staff  Tesco says it is advertising in Slovakia for store managers to work in Britain despite 2.5 million unemployed people in the UK.  The supermarket giant said it had turned to looking on the continent for staff because it could not always fill vacancies locally.  Tesco is reported to be offering help with legal paperwork and housing - plus 12 weeks' training to bring English-speaking workers to the UK to work in its stores. kelly1980 Â Â 10 #2 Posted March 12, 2011 Just what we want in the UK. I suggest we get together and protest in town today about it. We could cause havoc at the Lord mayors parade.
 Share this content via...

I would have thought Tesco would have a training and development programme to progress through the store.
 Share this content via...
Happ Hazzard   10 #7 Posted March 12, 2011 I imagine Slovakian people will do the job for less money and not be so keen to stand up for themselves regarding working conditions and hours etc.  I do not shop in Tesco, and will be doubly sure not to shop there in future. There are plenty of British people more than capable of being supermarket managers.
 Share this content via...

Happ Hazzard   10 #9 Posted March 12, 2011 can they work for less than the minimum wage in a legal company? No, but they can do a managers job for a lower salary than a British person would demand for the job.
 Share this content via...

Are people wrong in expecting to be paid fairly?  is it fair or not? is it unfair to slovakians to be paid less? do brits demand too much? do slovakians get paid less? is it all an excuse for anti immigration people?
