Jakester   10 #1 Posted February 27, 2011 It is possible to see the Space shuttle and the International Space Station (ISS) at present. Here is a link to the times and location in the night sky. As you can see it is only visible at times for a minute or two as it moves fairly quickly whilst in orbit.  I find it fascinating that there are currently four different spaceships connnected to the ISS which is unlikely to occur again due to the retirement of the space shuttle by the end of the year.  Perhaps one of the forum's astronomy experts can expand on the sightings and where to look etc?    http://spaceflight1.nasa.gov/realdata/sightings/cities/view.cgi?country=United_Kingdom®ion=England&city=Sheffield   http://www.space.com/10969-space-station-shuttle-spaceships.html
 Share this content via...

purdyamos   10 #5 Posted February 27, 2011 Oh wonderful, thank you for the info. I was wondering just the other night when it was coming over our way again. Four different fleets represented - that's very special.  Here's a bonus. The final launch of Discovery the other day, caught by a passenger on a nearby plane - or as near as the no-flight-zone would allow I suppose.
