Ellesmere road school, did you go there?

Recommended Posts

The Oxley brothers i knew weren't George or Pete, can't actually remember their names but i think they might have lived on Spital Street, they were always getting into scraps and could handle themselves, i remember that much, i was on the receiving end once or twice.

I think Jaqueline Grocock lived on there in the late 40s 50s,plus the Cutts family.

Hi Neilf... Im Lesley Whiteley, I used to live straight opposite the school on Ellesmere Road, I went to both infant and Junior then didn't do my eleven plus because my mum was a progressive person and something called the 13 plus loomed so I was sent to Burngreave Girls school, then in the second year we moved to the new developments over the other side of Sheffield called Birley... I remember the old Junk shop, I was always fascinated with it and Palfreymans on the corner, and the play ground 'wembley'

It is great fun reding and remembering, such things as Mr Scot the dreaded swimming teacher and the nit nurse
