A Mash or a Brew?

Brew is the noun, Mash is the verb

Would you call a cuppa tea a Mash or a Brew?? I think Sheffield Folk usually go with Mash!

I would say mash for when its brewing and I would call it a brew when its a finished product. :-)

I would definately say 'are ya mashing?' but when i went to uni in Leeds everyone said 'fancy a brew?'. I think its a sheffield thing!

I always say a brew.

 

Mash or mashing always makes me think of mashed potatoes.

I thought brew was a Sheffield thing, didn't use the term (as a noun) before I moved here.

In our house it was "put the kettle on" to initiate, but you waited for the tea to mash, not brew.
