A Mash or a Brew?

Usually goes something like this -

 

mum...mum...mum...mum...mum

 

what?!!!!

It's obviously "mash". We used to take mashings to work,tealeaves and sugar wrapped in paper. And mashed them in a mashing can.Brew is what they do over the other side of the hill or in a brewery to make a better class of drink altogether! I suppose someones going to tell me now that "mash" is something to do with the brewing industry.As usual,these things don't bear too close scrutiny!

It's mashing. I've even got my southern jessie OH trained to say he's mashing the tea.
