£35m for Andy Carroll??

Recommended Posts

£50m for Torres is ridiculous (and I'm a Chelski fan!) but £35m for Carroll - who is Championship standard (at best) with the mindset of a Sunday morning pub team clogger.

You have to laugh at the Scousers - they sell one of only 2 class players that they've got, replace him with Andy Carroll (for not much less than they sold Torres for), who is also currently unable to play due to injury - AND THEY'RE HAPPY!

They bombed our chip shop etc

I wonder of their transfer is inclusive or exclusive of VAT!

Totally agree - it is ridiculous, especially Carroll. Can't believe we lost Torres though :@

If £15 million is "not much" then the world of football really has gone mad.

Whist people will go and pay daft prices to go and see millionares with brains in their trousers and feet then those prices will be paid.

Abramovitch could but Man United and use them as the reserves.

Bert plyed for Man City not manchester and yes you are probably right about both of the goalies.

Time will tell.

People said he was a fool when he paid £3.5 million for Shearer at Blackburn. That was the Shearer pre knee knack with pace.

Doesn't seem such a bad buy now.

Whilst I agree £35m seems ott so is saying that the player currently 3rd in the seasons goal scoring table is 'Championship standard (at best)'.

Suarez could be more of a risk than Carroll, the record of forwards who scored for fun in Holland moving up to stronger leagues is pretty mixed. Kezman, Alves, Huntelaar and to a lesser extent Kuyt hardly set the world alight when they attempted the step up now did they? iirc Ruud was actually the last striker who was tearing it up in the Eredivisie to actually keep on scoring at anything like his previous level when he moved on.

At least Carroll has already demonstrated some kind of ability to play in a top league.
