Dreb48   35 #6 Posted March 14, 2018 Hi tigerman. I used to go to the Highcliffe with a group of people from Ecclesfield who were into Folk music. I’ve been the in Greyhound with them but just can’t remember whether it was to see acts or not. The only names I can recall are Dave Bingham and 2 other guys, one called Dom and the other Stagger. Capstick was virtually resident at Highcliffe in those days and was absolutely hilarious
 Share this content via...
Firemansam   10 #7 Posted March 15, 2018 I knew Dominic Wragg and Stagg from Ecclesfield. I think Dom emigrated to Australia last i heard.  Seem to think Lou Marriott had something to do with the folk club?
 Share this content via...
Dreb48   35 #8 Posted March 15, 2018 Hi Firemansam. It’d be some time in the early 70s I last saw them. I’d no idea what happened to them. They used to hang around with Dave Bingham and his wife Sue. Dave was really skinny with long hair and wore vests in all weathers. Like I said, we knew them from going to the Highcliffe Folk Club when Win White was running it. Saw some big names in the folk circuit there. Did some boozing in Ecclesfield village with them. Mainly the Greyhound and the pub across the road who’s name escapes me
 Share this content via...
Firemansam   10 #9 Posted March 15, 2018 Hi there, don't think there was ever a pub across road from greyhound.  Used to be Ball inn next door or Regency Restaurant across road
 Share this content via...
Dreb48   35 #10 Posted March 15, 2018 Sorry mate. I think I’m getting confused between the Griffin and the Greyhound. Was there a pub opposite the Griffin? I don’t live that side of town and it’s about 40 years since we were crawling the pubs in the village
 Share this content via...
Firemansam   10 #11 Posted March 15, 2018 That would be the White Bear or The Tankard (now The Stocks) both opposite The Griffin.  Happy days...............
 Share this content via...
