jordanlb   10 #98 Posted April 13, 2015 What do you think glow plugs do then?  Glow plugs do not ignite diesel!!! They warm the cylinder!!!!!  ---------- Post added 13-04-2015 at 23:14 ----------  Does the term compression ignition help? Or is that a little in depth? Haha funny some people on here
 Share this content via...
bessmeg   10 #99 Posted April 14, 2015 Don't forget my advice on those battery post shims , you need to make sure your connections are tight even if you get other probs? sorted, so is it just bad connection(where at battery or from lead to body earth) and flat battery? Alternator ok? You should have got a dash warning saying the alternator was not charging . If you look in handbook it will tell you what light to look for , if no hand book Google it, Glad you've found somebody to sort it, find somebody you trust and stick with them, .There are a few people out there that will try to take advantage of people. Good on you for trying to arm yourself with info and knowledge this way you are less likely to get ripped off.
 Share this content via...

Lunar25 Â Â 10 #102 Posted August 21, 2015 I strongly recommend Mister Gearbox based on Trent Street, Attercliffe. Really friendly and honest, and know exactly what they are doing. Keep you well informed and updated, did a really great job on a complex problem with my car and from now on will be using as my regular garage. They also look at automatic gearboxes. Â ---------- Post added 21-08-2015 at 18:10 ---------- Â Stay well clear from SMK Cars Swinton. Â They sold me a car last year which has had nothing but faults from start to finish. Within a few months my gearbox was jerking constantly, meaning the car would not get past 30mph on occasions and it would happen unexpectedly, even driving on dual carriageways which was just dangerous. SMK did not want to know about this but I was fooled by a friendly salesman who I thought was selling me a genuinely decent car (it was fine on the test drive and then after that there would be something wrong with it - in the past three months I have had to have a new start motor fitted and then my gearbox sorted, which of course, this is so expensive. This car has caused me so much stress and in actual fact, there were days where I would not even drive it but get three buses to work for the sheer fact I would feel like something would end up being wrong with it. Nobody should have to have this much hassle with a car - be extremely careful when choosing cars from dealerships, particularly SMK. Gemben   10 #107 Posted November 5, 2015 Please can you recommend a reliable mechanic inc MOTSs in the Greno, Eccy, H'bro area. I used to go to Charlie Brows in H'bro and rec'd excellent service - I have since tried their partner company (naming no names) and had poor service. Any recommendations please?
