you say you changed some fuses, presumably they had blown? check the thick live lead from the battery back to the starter motor b+. could be the plastic sheath on the live wire has worn through or overheated(possible starter sticking) resulting in blown fuses. avoid jump leads etc for now, because further damage will occur if you have a live wire shorting at that point(very high voltage). the canbus systems in that car are sensitive to voltage spikes, the ecu could be damaged.

I have heard lots of good things about this Nick Thompson. Do you know the name of his garage?. Isit just VAG or all German cars. Looking for someone to look at my merc.

With it being a diesel it could need new glow plugs.

also is it clicking when you try to turn the key?

Try BJ Mason on Broadfield Road opposite Virgin gym. He's a merc specialist but does all makes so will look at your Audi I'm sure. very reasonable prices and good service.

Potentially but all they do is help the diesel ignite for the engine to run. Its bizarre your lights, electrics radio ect aren't working but central locking is.

Does it continue to run after being Jumped?.

They help diesel ignite?? Hahaha

Do hope you get sorted would be nice to know what the problem turns out to be, hope it is a cheap fix for you, Don't think it sounds like a big problem, as you dash lights came on and car turn over when connected to another car, ( unsure if other car was running when you tried or how you had connected jump leads some times better to connect negative to good earth on car rather that negative terminal to get a good start from doner car) still think you have bad connection, or new duff battery , (I know you said battery is ok,) it's a real puzzle from the information you have posted , new battery connected up fully charged ,nothing ie no dash lights points to bad connection or dead battery, but you said when Connect to another car lights come on ,so have connection ,points to dead battery, but new battery showing fully charged (unsure what test you did I have had battery show ok on charger, but it had no charge in once was low on battery acid/water????? Doesn't add up. Think we are missing something silly here??? Please do post what the problem turns out to be .Hope you back up and running soon.

They help diesel ignite?? Hahaha

My limited understanding of diesel engine is air compressed in cylinder creates heat ( ie put your thumb over the end a bicycle pump and pump it you thumb gets hot) into this heat diesel is sprayed combustion happens ( ignition) away it goes, the glow plug warms a cold engine cylinder space so helps ignition ?? That s why when you first start up (engine cold) you get the light then goes off ready to start so you could say help diesel ignite???? Anybody know any better??

As someone mentioned car should have started with fully charged battery. Even if faulty alternator, so battery must have been flat, that's where I think we all got misled , glad your sorted anyway .

car would still start with a fully charged battery and faulty alternator , sounds like a poor earth to battery, if you have jump leads connect one to earth on battery - sign on battery and find a bare bit of metal under bonnet and connect other side of jump lead to that , then see if it starts
