Recommended Posts

Philliskirk is the son of former Sheffield United and Bolton Wanderers forward Tony Philliskirk and was briefly coached by his father in Oldham Athletic's youth team

Philliskirk began his career with his home town club, Oldham Athletic. He progressed through the club's youth system before signing a four year contract with Chelsea in the summer of 2007. Primarily a striker, he can also play as a midfielder. He captained the Chelsea youth team in the 2008–09 season prior to establishing himself in the club's reserves. He signed a one-month loan deal with Oxford United in August 2010, and made his first team début against Burton Albion in the Football League on 7 August 2010. He joined Sheffield United on a months loan on 10 January 2011.

Sheffield United have signed Chelsea reserve team midfielder Daniel Philliskirk on a four-week loan deal.

The 19-year-old, who can also play as a striker, spent a month on loan with League Two club Oxford United at the beginning of the season.

Philliskirk, a former England Under-17 international, has featured three times for the Blues' second-string side this term.

He will be assessed by coach Mark Smith during his stay at Bramall Lane and will work with the rest of the Blades' development squad.

Blades are really pushing the boat out for thier new gaffer....2 unknown irish kids and phillys lad, hope hes more accurate than his dad was!

Changed it for you

Tony Philliskirk turned professional at the age of 18, when he joined Sheffield United. He made his debut for the Blades in a pre-season friendly against Mansfield Town at Field Mill on 17 August 1983. He had to wait until 18 October 1983, before making his league debut for Sheffield United against Brentford at Griffin Park.

He scored his first goal for the club two weeks later at Plymouth Argyle. He scored eight goals in his first season with Sheffield United. Most of his time at Bramall Lane was spent as a partner of striker Keith Edwards.

He was part of the Sheffield United side which won promotion from the Third Division in season 1983-84. In total he made 80 league appearances (18 as a substitute) for Sheffield United scoring 20 goals.

I do remember phillys,i just dont recall him bieng anything prolofic,i recall him bieng a young lad,and a little like pearson, maybe making it into the 1st team a touch too early, with a pretty simular scoring record.

Occasionally i get to work in an office in slough, just by farneham road, full of chelsea fans,iv never heard them mention Phillys lad.

Although i do know Kieth edwards and had a few laughs with him:)
