Walkley cottage

Recommended Posts

i bet its less than a week before punch put a temp manager in there.

Oh god, hope not. Temp managers have meant the downward spiral of many pubs (cf. Devonshire Arms and Grindstone)

your right but in the brewery's eyes a closed pub makes no profit.

Unfortunately Punch would probably be just as happy to get rid of it to a developer. Those big debts don't go away by themselves!

cant see the brewery wanting to sell, not long since they refurbished, they will want another unsuspecting redundant with some money who will put every thing they have into the business and 12 months down the line it will close and they will go under, and then another gullible person will take it and the same thing will happen, people need to realise the brewers are now landlords they make there money on rents not beer sales...

Well indeed. I hope it does reopen soon, it even got into the Good Beer Guide recently.

Bummer. Few decent boozers in Walkley as it is and their food was decent.

Its not owned by a brewery, its owned by a Pub Company (Enterprise Inns I think). I'm led to believe Tony and Sandra who leased the pub and ran it have called it a day and handed their notice in as they can no longer make it pay. Rumours that it relates to changes to the terms of the lease around the time of the refurbishment are not confirmed.

There are pubs still open nearer to Netto, than the Walkey Cottage

So your cheap beer theory dosen't really fit.

plus cheap netto beer and drinking in pubs are 2 different things

one is getting wrecked in your front room and one is getting out the house, being sociable etc.
